New York–based Rachel Rossin is a painter and self-taught programmer whose multi-disciplinary practice has established her as a pioneer in the field of virtual reality (VR). Her art blends painting and sculpture with emergent technologies, gaming, and video to create landscapes that illuminate the intersection between our digital and physical worlds.

For this year’s Young Collectors Council (YCC) Party, Rossin will take over the iconic rotunda of the Guggenheim Museum, transforming it into a hybrid virtual environment. Inspired by the heightened social acceleration spurred on by technology, this environment reflects our rapidly changing digital landscape that is giving rise to increased image and text production, consumption, and affects the ways in which we interact with information and with each other. In response to these realities, which Rossin refers to as “quickening,” the YCC Party design will create a space that bridges physical and digital dimensions, imagining technological hybrids, and communities to come.
