This is a quick video on how to enable Telnet. The same process can be applied to a router but this video uses a real Cisco 3550 Switch.

The better option is to use SSH instead of Telnet as it is more secure. Video here:    • How to Configure SSH on a Cisco Route...  

If you get a message when trying to use telnet saying it is not recognized, you will need to enable telnet through 'turn windows features on or off'


The commands below are from Global Configuration mode.
Managment IP
interface vlan 1

ip address enter ip address enter subnet mask

no shut down
Enable Telnet
Line vty 0 15

Transport input telnet

Password enter password

Login
