🏁 LIGHTWEIGHT LEGENDS – ROUND 2 RECAP 🏁
Minis vs. Ginettas – Virginia International Grand West Circuit
A bumper grid of 22 fearless drivers descended on Virginia International’s Grand West circuit for Round 2 of the Lightweight Legends – and what a night of racing it was! Minis, Ginettas, and a whole lot of mayhem came together for a thrilling triple-header that kept the action coming corner after corner.
And at the top of the time sheets? A familiar name with an not so unfamiliar level of dominance…
🥇 BARNEY. BARNEY. BARNEY.
Yes, he did it again – a clean sweep! The purple powerhouse took out all three races, but not without a fair bit of effort (and entertainment) along the way.
Race 1 – Mini 5-Lap Fiesta
The Minis kicked things off in a slipstreaming frenzy of front-wheel-drive fun. Barney jumped to the lead on Lap 1 and simply never looked back. After 15 minutes of action, he crossed the line a full 14 seconds ahead of second-place ZeusEugenius, with Easty securing third just behind.
A heated midfield scrap saw Barthy and Zorbie slugging it out for Facebook glory in what's become the most hotly contested unofficial battle of the series.
Race 2 – Reverse Grid Ginettas
As expected, chaos reigned again on the opening lap, but the real story was Barney’s charge from the back. No traffic jam could stop him – he sliced through the field and emerged victorious once more, six seconds clear of MattTheGent, with NobleRabbit in a solid third.
Easty and Brenno rounded out the top five after some flat out racing.
Race 3 – Minis vs. Ginettas Showdown
The main event! With the Minis given a 20-second head start, it was all on. But that didn’t stop Barney – not only did he hang on to the lead, he crossed the line three seconds clear of the field, spraying champagne from the window of his Mini like a man possessed.
Chasing hard behind him were four Ginettas in hot pursuit:
Barthy in 2nd with an outstanding drive
AgroCat bagging his first VMO podium
Easty in 4th after a small hiccup at the final turn
MattTheGent rounding out the top five
NobleRabbit flew the flag as the second Mini home in a hard-fought battle with the Ginettas.
