What is aging? What is longevity? Is aging inevitable?

As I open this video I say "I would never want to be a hundred years old..." and yes, this is something I hear from lots of people who are growing older.

Why is that?

Two reasons...either you don't love your life or you're fearful of what being a hundred means with our current notion of aging.

One hundred years of age may mean old, weak and frail, dealing with chronic disease.

In this video I'm going to introduce you to the concepts of aging and longevity. I"m going to help define aging, take a deeper look at the genome and the epigenome and why the epigenome is so important when we look at advanced age.

I'm also going to explore healthspan and lifespan and show you graphically how modern medicine has effected both of these.

Finally I'm going to introduce you to a paper that defines the hallmarks of aging as well as some targets we can go after to improve our healthspan and our lifespan.
