The emacs mpv.el package allows you to create a playlist of urls to be played by mpv, the trick is you have to run M-x mpv-play-url and the url for the first video and then M-x mpv-playlist-append-url url for the subsequent links

In this video we will use the emacs eww web browser to view Invidious an open source front end to Youtube running in a Docker container and use the mpv video player to create a playlist of videos to play

This doesnt create a playlist file but sends url over the mpv json rpc interface to the mpv player to play the url

Pressing f8 in mpv will list the items in the playlist and the current position in the playlist. the greater than keyboard shortcut moves to the next playlist item and the less than keyboard shortcut moves to the previous item in the playlist

the emacs mpv package lets you append urls to a playlist, jump to next and previous entry in the playlist, jump to a specific entry and also remove an entry from the playlist, however it only lists the urls and not the video title

Note: I have added playlist next, playlist previous, jump to playlist entry and remove playlist entry to my hydra for controlling mpv from within Emacs

i also cover setting up Emacs exec-path and PATH environment variable to match that used by the user's shell. This will enable auto completion for all the binaries in you shell path when you run emacs Aync Shell Command function

these are a list of some of the commands we will be using

shr-copy-url
eww-copy-page-url
mpv-play-url
mpv-playlist-append-url

it should be possible to create a function using the above commands so you can just press a single keyboard shortcut to copy the url and play it with mpv
