First off, I want to thank everyone for their support and their patience as I grieve the recent passing of our cat, Stella. It's been rough, but I feel we're processing it in as healthy a way as we can. The following video was something already well underway as it ties in, in some regards, to my previous video. And I know Stella would want me to keep busy at this as she was often there with me while I worked on projects.

In this video I will discuss the history of Portland's shortest street, a street that no longer exists: Vine Street. Located in downtown near the waterfront, the one-block long Vine Street experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in it's time between Front and First Avenues. Next to Skidmore Fountain, it was at the epicenter of the city's bustling commerce and over the years, as that all changed, it found itself literally at the center of nothing. By the late 1930s there were no buildings or even dwellings along Vine. It had become totally obsolete. Despite it's short length, and years of uselessness, I've always wanted to cover the history of this street because of what it was. I discovered some interesting little tid bits about what happened around there and I believe it adds to the overall history of what is now Portland's Old Town.
