This is a demonstration of the HMC5883L solution / driver for Great Cow Basic.

The HMC5833l is a 3-axis digital compass based on the Honeywell HMC5883L chip. Communication with the HMC5883L is simple and completed through the I2C interface. There is no on-board regulator, so a regulated power supply should is used on the breakout board.

The breakout board includes the HMC5883L sensor and all filtering capacitors as shown. The power and 2-wire interface pins are all broken out to a 0.1" pitch header.

Great Cow Basic exposes a number of methods to read and set the device, they are: StartContinousRead, ContinousRead, StopContinousRead, ReadXYZ and getDataReady.

It is a simple to use device that will enhance many projects.
