Recently DJI released their new action camera, the DJI Action 2, and last week I took you out on my motorbike for a review and some tips. Now, I noticed a few serious issues with the Action 2, such as overheating and limited battery capacity when using only the camera module, but I was quite pleased with the overall quality and stabilization of the video images.That got me thinking: how good is the stabilization from the DJI Action 2 if you compare it with, for example, the DJI OM5?

In this video I use an old selfie stick that I used for the Gopro Hero 4 Session and put the DJI Action 2 with the touchscreen module on it. I also a DJI OM 5 in combination with an iPhone 13 Pro Max. To make the comparison a bit more fair, I used the wide angel lens of the iPhone 13 Pro max. As for image quality: for the DJI OM 5 it simply depends entirely on the smartphone with which you use it. When we talk about image stabilization, it of course also depends on the smartphone you use.

A number of viewers have already pointed out to me that DJI currently recommends not to use the DJI OM5 with an iPhone 13 pro max. This has to do with the maximum carrying weight of the DJI OM5. Now, I didn't realize that when I bought the DJI OM5, and DJI could be more clear about this, but luckily I don't experience any problems yet with the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Nevertheless, you need to keep this in mind.

Personally, I find it more pleasant to watch the video images of the DJI Action 2. But I prefer the image quality from the DJI OM5 with the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I find the videos from the DJI Action 2 much smoother than the DJI OM 5 with an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Maybe that could also be due to the fact that the two are actually not compatible with each other.
