As much as 70% of people have some form of periodontal disease! The good news is, we can now use a microscope to diagnose and cure gum disease.

Dr. Joseph Nemeth is a periodontist in Southfield Michigan who will take a slide or a sample from under the patients gum to look for parasites.

When we see a microscope slide that has these disease causing bacteria, we know that this patient has a form of gum disease, bleeding gums, and is a higher risk for other systemic diseases related to periodontitis.
