Solo travelling is something I had always heard of but never had enough courage to do it on my own but when I finally went on a solo trip, it was a blast!
In this video, I went on a solo trip to Coromandel on the north island of New Zealand and I want to show you what I learned from my solo travel. I am glad that we started vlogging last year and that I could vlog this whole journey. Before you jump to any conclusion, let me tell you, Auckland is still in level 3 lockdown and we are still stuck at home. I went on this trip last year in November when Sagar had to go to India. When I started reading more about full-time travelling, I discovered a few solo travellers and they always used to talk about how liberating it feels to be able to travel alone. When I was in India, it was almost a distant dream for me to travel alone but when I found out about some solo female travellers in India, it blew my mind!
I was itching to go out on my own but I could not leave Sagar behind so when the perfect opportunity came last year, I went on this trip.
Now, the Coromandel Peninsula is a beautiful part of North Island. The beaches are scenic and there are plenty of things to do around here. However, when I decided to go to Coromandel, I did not want to be a tourist or an explorer. I just wanted to see how I feel when I am alone, how do I react to different things and what does it feel like to be around myself!
So I only chose a very few hotspots. I booked an Airbnb at Whangapoua and every day decided to go to different hotspots around Coromandel like Hahei beach, Hot water beach, Whitianga
On the last day of my trip, I took a boat ride through Sea Cave Adventures and that was a hell of a ride. A big shout out to this amazing small business and if you ever go to Whitianga, do not think twice- just book them! It is THE BEST ride I had in a very long time.
The time I spent on this ride was nothing but magical. For the first time in my life, I was communicating with nature. I felt like, I am on this journey to find something within me that have not been explored yet. It was almost meditative
I am not telling you that this was easy. I am glad that I showed a little bit of courage and took this trip. It made me happy, almost childlike happy!
I cannot guaranty you that the solo trip will give you perfect experiences or instagrammable photos but all I know and have experienced is that it fills you with so much energy and positivity. That inner voice you have been ignoring all your life echoes when you are in your own company. Try to listen to it next time, as I did during this trip :)
