Signs of Death.
Terminal agitation or terminal restlessness is a common end of life phenomenon. We don't entirely know the cause of it. Sometimes we can be objective observers to see if there is something that is bothering them - for example, did your dying loved one wet themselves and need to be cleaned? Have they been in the same position for a while? Sometimes medications can cause or increase terminal agitation and restlessness at the end of life. Were any new medications started before this? There are many things to look out for and assess. When in doubt, always reach out to the hospice nurse or healthcare team when a dying person is restless.
