Hello, and welcome to the day. In this video, Joel pilots Ken Yukuhiro's BW Sram Auras deck. The exact deck that took second place at PT Nagoya, the deck utilizes Sram, Senior Edificer and a lot of powerful one-drop auras to draw cards easily. This aggro deck also uses many new Theros beyond death cards, including 3 powerful creatures: Alseid of Life's Bounty, Hateful Eidolon, and Aphemia the Cacophony. The idea is to suit up low cost creatures with powerful auras, draw a lot of cards and overpower your opponent. Big thanks to Ken Yukuhiro for coming up with an excellent deck to take a look at. What is Pioneer?
On October 21, 2019, Wizards of the Coast announced Pioneer, a new eternal, non-rotating format-- a "post-modern" format starting with Return to Ravnica. This format, likely a response to the price barrier of Modern and Legacy, would ban fetch lands (an expensive crux and format staple of Modern and Legacy) from the start, likely leading to a less expensive and therefore more accessible meta for new players and old, all while giving new life to a bunch of otherwise forgotten-about cardboard.
