This is my first attempt at recording, editing and uploading a virtual high to Youtube, and in 4K as well. I had a lot of fun recording it but editing and exporting the 1.5 hr 4K video was daunting. I guess I can make the excuse that my computer isn't good enough to handle the footage but I have a few ideas that I can implement to make it easier for my computer to process.

First of all I shot this on a DJI Osmo Action Camera (without ND Filter) mounted on top of an iSteady Pro 2 action cam gimbal made by Hohem. I had the Osmo action set to 4K HDR, 30 fps, Auto Exposure (no manul option in HDR). Then I interpreted the footage into 24 fps in Adobe Premiere and tried to use Warp Stabilizer to steady everything in the edit. It was a nightmare. Adding all those 5 minute, 4K clips into my timeline and then trying to stabilize them just wasn't going to work. Not for a 2 hour video.

I had to remove all the stabilization from all of the clips and cut a bunch of the clips short in order to fit them into a 1.5 hr video.

Solution:
1) Shoot in Rock Steady mode on the Osmo. It will crop the edges in a bit but the loss is well worth the amount of time it takes to try and stabilize everything in Adobe Premiere

2) Shoot in D-Cinelike. This will give me a wider dynamic range and more flexibility to get creative with the colours in post.

3) Shoot in manual settings. I found that the sky in a lot of my clips is blown out. I think it's easier to bring up the dark part of an image up while editing is easier than crushing the highlights. So I rather manually control the exposure in order to make sure I expose a bit more for the sky to keep my highlights within range.

4) Buy ND filters, or Variable Polarizing Filters.

I have 2 sets of ND filters in mind. I just have to figure out wether I want convenience over ruggedness or vice versa. Polar Pro has a magnetic system that looks amazing but it has it's limitations. Many of the comments on Amazon.ca mention that the magnetic attachments fall off during rugged sports. And the alternative is a set of ND filters by Freewell that offer the same quality, better lens security, but less convenient. Both sets cost over $100 each so I'm taking my time to think about it. I have a few more tools I'd like to buy so I'm trying to prioritize. If these virtual tours pickup on Youtube then I'll give the Filters a serious thought.
