In a tragic turn of events in Kanpur a four-month-old love marriage that began by defying family wishes ended in a brutal murder. Sachin Singh, an auto-driver who had eloped with Shweta Singh to start a new life, grew suspicious of her relationship with two local engineering students living nearby. On the night of January 16, Sachin laid a trap by pretending to leave for work, only to return and catch his wife in a compromising position with the students. Following a violent confrontation where he was allegedly assaulted by the youths and a subsequent brief detention by the police, the dispute escalated at home when Shweta reportedly pressured him to secure the students' release from custody. In a fit of rage during the argument, Sachin strangled Shweta to death, wrapped her body in a blanket, and later surrendered at the police station to confess his crime. The police have since taken Sachin into custody, while the victim's father, who had originally opposed the union, mourns the grim fate of his daughter.
