JAW drop the RIGHT way! The L-Ah exercise

Описание к видео JAW drop the RIGHT way! The L-Ah exercise

Sometimes just opening the mouth a little more can clarify and enrich the sound of your voice, but you have to be sure the jaw is opening the right way, without tightness and cracking.

Today’s exercise will help you find the “plumber’s wrench” type of opening, with a vertical drop at the back of the mouth and a firm, high hard palate.

We’ll also check out exactly what’s going on with your L consonant, so if you have a suspicion something’s a little funny there, be sure to check out today’s super specific consonant breakdown.

How to do the L-Ah:
1. Place the TIP of the tongue at the back of the top teeth right where the teeth and roof of the mouth meet.
2. Press with the tongue. Feel the “lever” action that lowers and firms the back of the tongue and raises the palate.
3. Sing up a five note scale - Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol on “LLLLL”, flip the tip of the tongue down to an Ah position and come back down the scale

Be sure you’re only using the tip of the tongue, and that when it flips down, it moves right into place at the back of the bottom teeth for the Ah vowel.
