This is my favorite quote of all time. It is easier said than done but I am proof that it Can be done.These are words I live by.
I suffered from low self confidence most of my life-caused by childhood bullies. I became a people pleaser. I wanted everybody to like me so I never had the confidence to speak up when I didn’t agree with something someone said, I always ran around doing what they asked me to do because I was afraid they wouldn’t like me if I said ,” no.” It was pretty exhausting trying please everyone-all this was because I had no Confidence in myself to be myself. It was to the point where I was tired of letting people (most of whom I didn’t even know very well) control what I did and how I felt.
It was a slow road at first but I believe the biggest change came when I started to transition to gray hair. Before then, I would have been too worried about what people thought. As each month went by(more gray became more visible to the world), I felt like the person I had been was being replaced by the person I was truly meant to be-my true authentic self. I was no longer embarrassed of my hair and I honestly didn’t care what people thought about it. The one thing I was most embarrassed about (my gray hair) and worried about what people would say (bullies), became the one thing about myself (physical features) that I am most proud of. It was then that I realized that what people thought or said about me didn’t matter. It never did but it took me half my life to figure that out.
Never allow others to stop you from being your true authentic self. Don’t give them the power to take away your happiness and to stop you from doing the things you want to do. Live your life YOUR way, not theirs. Stay strong and remember I am rooting for you and I am here to encourage and support you! 😘 You got this!
