8Electric current in physics is the flow of electric charge through a conductor, typically measured in amperes (A). It represents the movement of electrons or other charge carriers, driven by a potential difference (voltage) across the conductor. The direction of the current is defined as the direction in which positive charges would move, even though in most conductors, it is actually the negatively charged electrons that flow in the opposite direction. Current can be direct (DC), where the flow of charge is constant, or alternating (AC), where the flow periodically reverses direction.
