I personally truly believe that Bungi is indeed the Contact Tongue of the Fur Trade.

Bungi is one of the 1st truly Canadian Dialects emerging NOT in classrooms, but on the Fur Trade routes, during bison hunts and found around campfires. It truly embodies linguistic survival, adaptability and cultural blending.

A living legacy shaped by Metis, Cree, Ojibwe, Scottish, French and Orkney roots.

Bungi is a true dialect of CONTACT and COOPERATION.

Proud to recite a story told by Rachel Bunn about how her husband, Thomas Bunn built a stone house known as Victoria Cottage. This is from Red River North Heritage.
