STORYLINE:
Hundreds of protesters rallied near the prime minister's residence in Nepal on Wednesday voicing their opposition to violence against women for the 12th day running.
The protesters are calling their campaign "Occupy Baluwatar," and demanding the government punish those involved in crimes against women and that authorities do more to protect women in the Himalayan nation.
Baluwatar is the Katmandu neighbourhood where the prime minister's official residence is.
The protesters included students, artists and rights workers and men with their faces painted in black.
Riot police have been deployed in the area to keep the protesters away from prime minister's residence.
The protests in Nepal are echoing the outrage and daily protests in neighbouring India following the brutal gang-rape of an Indian student on a bus last month.
The 23-year old student died at a hospital in Singapore where she was taken for emergency medical treatment.
