The Photos app on iPhone includes a built-in feature to hide sensitive photos and videos in a secure folder that can only be accessed using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. This hidden album is not just concealed—it’s also locked, providing an extra layer of privacy for your personal media. This tutorial shows you how to activate and use the hidden photos lock feature without needing third-party apps or extra settings.

To begin, open the Photos app and choose any photo or video you want to hide. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the bottom right corner or top right (depending on your iOS version), then select the “Hide” option. Confirm that you want to hide the media. Once hidden, the file is moved to a special folder called "Hidden" under the Utilities section in the Albums tab.

The Hidden album is protected by your iPhone’s built-in security. To access it, scroll to the bottom of your Albums tab, find the "Hidden" album under Utilities, and tap it. Your iPhone will prompt you to authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, depending on what’s enabled.

To make sure this feature is active, go to Settings → Photos, and check that "Use Face ID" or "Use Touch ID" is enabled under the “Hidden Album” section. This ensures the hidden folder remains locked and invisible to anyone who does not have your biometric or passcode access.

If you want to unhide a photo or video, simply go back into the Hidden album, tap on the media, press the three-dot icon, and choose “Unhide.” The file will return to its original album.
