What an experience to meet the mountain gorillas! In the early morning we went to one of the five mountain gorilla groups in the Rushaga sector, in the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We were very lucky to meet the Busingye Gorilla Group.

In groups of up to eight people, we went in search of these 'gentle Giants' under the guidance of an experienced Wildlife ranger. An amazing and strenuous trek, took us through elephant trails and climbing and clambering through the tropical rainforest to the mountain gorillas.

First, the rangers took us to the spot where the mountain gorillas were seen the previous day. Then we followed the trail to where they spent the previous night. Through a trail of broken branches and droppings, we went to the place where we met the mountain gorillas.

At a short distance (7 meters) we were face to face with these impressive animals and enjoyed an indescribable and quite emotional experience, which we will never forget. After one hour, we left these beautiful animals behind! This really was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
