In Google Sheets, you can enter a function formula in three ways. These are typing the function formula in a cell, typing the formula in the Formula bar, or clicking the Functions icon and selecting a function.

If you use the third method mentioned above, Google Sheets automatically
enters the partial formula in the selected cell. Then, you've to fill in the
attributes to complete the formula.

Let's get to know the three ways of entering a function formula in a Google Sheets spreadsheet:

Method 1: Click the cell in which you want to type the formula. Type equal-to and first few characters of the name of the function. Select the function from the menu that displays. Complete the formula and press Enter.

Method 2: Click the cell in which you want to use the formula. Click the Formula bar. As in Method 1, type the first few letters of the function name, select the function, complete the formula and press enter.

Method 3: Click the cell in which you want to type the formula. Click the Function icon on the Toolbar. If this icon is not visible, click the More icon (the icon with three dots). Click the function you wish to use. Say you clicked the SUM function. Google sheets displays the formula as =SUM(). Type the attribute(s) or range name(s) and press Enter.

How to Edit a Formula in a Google Sheets Spreadsheet?

It's easy, and there are two ways to edit a formula.

Method 1

Double-click the cell with the formula you want to edit, make the changes, and press Enter.

Method 2

Click the cell with the formula you want to edit. Click the Formula Bar, make the changes, and press Enter.
