Purpose of Act
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been created for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. All Food business operators, Manufacturers, Import, Packers, Distributors, Marketers, Hotel, Resorts, Canteen, Mobile Food vendors, Wine Shop, Club, Bar and Restaurant, Home stay , Bakery, Sweets Stall, Dairy Units, Packaged Drinking Water Units/ Seller, Fruits and Vegetables Shops, Chicken, Fish, Egg, Mutton Shop, Street Food Vendors, Storage, Ware house, Retailer, Temple, Marriage Hall, Fair Price Shop, Office / School Canteen, Government / Private Hostels, Midday Meals School, Anganawadi, Child Care Centre , comes under this act and the all Food unit stake FSSA Registration / License Compulsory .

About License/Registration/ Renewal:
Petty Food Business Operators (FBO) who himself manufactures or sells any article of food or a petty retailer, hawker, itinerant vendor or a temporary stall holder or small scale or cottage or such other industries relating to food business or tiny food business operator having annual turnover up to Rs. 12 Lacs eligibility for FSSAI registration. Food Business Operators (FBO) who himself manufactures or sells any article of food annual turnover Exceed to Rs. 12 Lacs and upto Rs 20 crores eligibility for FSSAI License. FSSAI Registration / license can be applied or renewed for 1 year up to maximum 5 years at a time.FBOs will be Apply able to track the application during the course of processing through the FSSAI’s online Food Safety Compliance System or Food Safety Connect app (Website ID: //foscos.fssai.gov.in)Type Eligibility Criteria Fee i. Central Registration Canteen’s Annual Turnover upto Rs. 12 Lacs Fee: Rs. 100 ii. Central License Canteen’s Annual Turnover of more than Rs. 12 Lacs Fee: Rs. 2000 As per regulations, a renewal has to be filed not later than 30 days prior to expiry of License to avoid the late fee for renewal of License. A late fee of Rs. 100 per day is calculated and added to renewal fee of License. i.e. if you are applying for renewal on last day of expiry, a late fee of Rs. 100 x 30 = Rs. 3000 will be added to the renewal fee of License. Un renewed Registration Will be cancelled ofter the Registration period But Un renewed License can be renewed after paying the annual fees and three times penalty.

Proof of Expected Annual Turnover(self-attested)
Photo I.D and address proof issued by Government authority of proprietor/Partner/Director(s)/Authorised Signatory
Analysis report (Chemical & Bacteriological) of water to be used as ingredient in food
from a recognized/ public health laboratory to confirm the potable
Partnership Deed/Self Declaration for Proprietorship/Memorandum & Articles of Association towards the constitution of the firm
Form IX: Nomination of Persons by a Company along with the Board Resolution.
Proof of possession of premises. (Sale deed/ Rent agreement/ Electricity bill, etc.)
Blueprint/layout plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions in metres/square metres and operation-wise area allocation
Name and List of Equipments and Machinery along with the number, installed capacity and horse power used
Upload Production unit photograph etc…
All applicants are required to upload all documents mandatorily self-attested by the authorised signatory/proprietor while applying for license/registration.

Inspections:
Food safety and standards act comes under Manufacture /Shops/ Storage / Retails divide three risk category’s that is High risk, Medium risk and Low risk. And annually inspected percentage of inspection.

High Risk : 100%

Medium Risk : 20%

Low Risk : 10%

High Risk Category’s: Milk and Milk Products, Meat, Fish, Egg, Prepared Foods Ect.

Medium Risk Category’s: Honey, Sweet and sweet products, Masala Products, Nutrition Products, Beverages ect.

Low Risk Category’s: Oil, Fruits- Vegetables, Bakery Products, Provision Food etc.
