Number 5. Jeff Bezos.
Jeff Bezos, founder, and CEO of Amazon, is officially the richest man in the world with a $193.5 billion personal net worth. If success is not measured in terms of money, we can measure it by accomplishments.
Amazon almost single-handedly changed America's economy under the reign of Bezos’ genius. He turned what was originally an online bookstore into one of the world’s most valuable companies.
And it’s not just online shopping that Amazon excels at. They scarily have their hand in everything. The Twitch streaming platform we’re all addicted to-- Amazon-owned. Whole Foods? Amazon. The Washington Post? Amazon. Goodreads? Amazon. The list goes on to include 43 subsidiaries.
As CEO, Bezos also made his dreams of someday traveling to space very possible in the near future with his aerospace company, Blue Origin. Jeff Bezos will forever be known as modern history’s richest man alive and what a successful and imaginative CEO should be like.
Number 4. Elon Musk.
If you have a subreddit dedicated to you, you’ve reached the greatest heights of success. The real-world’s modern Tony Stark. Elon is the longest-tenured CEO of any automotive manufacturer globally, having headed Tesla since 2004. In 2002, he founded and took the position of CEO for the space exploration firm, SpaceX. He’s also the chief executive of the tech firms Neuralink and The Boring Company, and lastly, he’s the co-founder and initial co-chairman of Open AI. That’s one of the most impressive resumes. In addition, Musk founded an online bank called X.com-- he sold it, but X.com would go on to become today’s PayPal. As CEO of Tesla, Musk leads product design, engineering and global manufacturing of the famous electric vehicles, and battery and solar energy products. No matter how controversial he is (smoking weed on a radio show, and I won’t even go into his disastrous, albeit sometimes funny tweets), Elon Musk is one of the most innovative and successful CEOs of all time. His plans include someday building a city on Mars and changing the autos sector with all-electric cars.
Number 3. Jamie Dimon.
In a world of controversial and insanely rich CEOs, authenticity is much appreciated, and that is Jamis Dimon’s reputation. He’s the chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, the largest of the big four American banks in terms of assets, richer than the Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and his old workplace, Citigroup. He also previously served on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
He was notoriously fired by his mentor at Citigroup, but the joke’s on whoever fired him because Dimon went on to take over one of the biggest banks in the country. Dimon is one of the rare bank chief executives to become billionaires. As of 2020, his net worth is believed to be $1.3 billion. He was named one of the world’s 100 most influential people for four non-consecutive years. After the 2008 financial crisis, Dimon came out as victorious as a person could be due to his risk-taking methods. Under his leadership, JPMorgan Chase took over several collapsed banks, including the famous Bear Stearns. In 2019, Dimon’s bank outperformed all analysis' expectations when he still earned billions despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Number 2. Satya Nadella.
If Satya Nadella wasn’t the CEO of Microsoft, then Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer would’ve taken this spot on the list. As it came to be, Nadella took Microsoft’s legacy and turned it into an absolute cloud powerhouse.
Since 2014 when he was appointed CEO, Microsoft’s stock has increased by more than 150%. Before, Microsoft was close to self-destruction with a failing mobile strategy, so Nadella focused on cloud computing and augmented reality. With him in charge, Microsoft acquired the Swedish game company, Mojang. Why is that significant? Mojang is best known for Minecraft, one of the biggest video games in history. Nadella also oversaw buying out LinkedIn. We can credit Nadella with increasing Microsoft's market value to over $1 trillion.
Number 1. Sundar Pichai.
Pichai Sundararajan, better known as Sundar Pichai, is the CEO of both Alphabet Inc. and Google. Pichai was faced with a lot of expectations to live up to when he was declared CEO in 2019. He was taking over from the company co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin after Page ran the company for over two decades. However, Pichai proved his worth because in this year and a half he’s been in charge, Alphabet doubled its revenue from the years past with $161.8 billion coming in from revenue.
Sundar Pichai was rewarded with $281 million in compensation, making him both one of the most successful CEOs in the world as well as the highest-paid.
