Random Hybrid Videos II

Many people who create kinetic art will build one of two kinds of projects: giant domino setups, or chain reaction machines. Then, there are hybrid builders like me, who attempt both. How well can I build dominoes and machines individually? How well can I combine the two? Find out in this video, the second installment in my Random Hybrid Videos series.

I am very, very proud of this video and I did not expect to get another large solo project out so quickly after releasing The Kinetic Universe! The builds in this video are right in my comfort zone in terms of materials, scale, and complexity. However, I did challenge myself a little with weirder motions and connections, while also giving the builds a wider variety of creative endings. Every video I make teaches me more about the different ways kinetic art projects can come together, and it feels good to end the year with this one.

I got so many videos out during 2022 and it really felt like I built non-stop the entire year – I may need a break from personal projects going into 2023 as I focus more on live events and commissions. But rest assured, you haven’t seen the last of them!
