You can't image how long I have been working on this video.
Literally months. On and off, granted. But still. I gave up on it so many times, but for some reason I kept going back to it. Sigh. Letting go? Never heard of it.

I'm still not 100% satisfied with the result, but lol I can't keep changing stuff till the end of time. I've changed the coloring like 4 times, and I had a fight with the middle section of the song like dsfdgyui I've been to war.

& probably for ... nothing? Like, I feel like I care too much over so little. But ugh, these two. God. I got overwhelmed too often while vidding them. That definitely factored in the amount of time it took me to finish this. I wish I had the energy to explain why these two matter so much to me but lmao Im exhausted.

I will only say this. While their story doesn't exactly have a happy ending, the image of them I have in my head is something bright, and positive, and pure. They found refuge and understanding in each other, despite their many differences in terms of culture and religion. Maybe it was a connection doomed from the start, and destined to that very end, but that doesn't lessen the impact of it.
I find it meaningful, and ironic, that they died and are buried one in the land of the other. Some kind of cosmic joke huh.

So what I wanted to do was getting that message across in a song that had some kind of bittersweet feeling to it. Something that was melancholic and sorrowful yes, but that also had some light in it. So, this. It's a song about loss and grief and memories alternatively washed away and retrieved.
But in that final line that repeats like a prayer 'I'll keep my lanters lit', I find hope. (faith?) The promise of a future reunion, despite the impossibility of it ("Miracles are things that are impossible to do"), despite the show telling us Ragnar is in Valhalla, and Athelstan in Paradise.

I suppose this video isn't as religion-oriented as my other video of them (which I like best, tbh) but then again ,, it is? I don't know how to vid them without including religion to some extent. If not in content, in form at least.

I'm fully aware of how Extra (and deranged) I sound. I need to shut the hell up. Bye.
