This is an attempt to digitally communicate with the world about how I see things during the #CoronaVirus outbreak.

I dedicate Episode 14 to Manolis Glezos, the last hero of WWII resistance who passed away sadly at the age of 98 on the 30th of March 2020. Unfortunately, because of #CoronaVirus we could not say a proper goodbye to him at his funeral today (April 1st 2020) and so I dedicate this to him.

Here's the translation of what I say on the message:

"Welcome to the Corona Virus Diaries, with me Vasilis Katsardis - Today I will speak in Greek as I will be talking about the most important Greek I have ever met, the first partisan, as Charles De Gaulle used to say, Manolis Glezos who sadly passed away, at the age of 98. For those of you who don't know him, we are talking about the man who tore down the Nazi swastika from the Acropolis, along with Apostolos Santas, in 1941, during German occupation of Greece. But Manolis wasn't just one thing, he was much more that that. Resistance fighter, journalist, pharmacist, poet, politician, intellectual, TEACHER. When we were together at the EU Parliament, I felt I had the grandfather of us all advising, guiding and inspiring me. Our Manolis, the Left-winger, the Patriot, was the best of us all, IN EVERYTHING. I wish we could reach his little toe in terms of achievements in our lives. FAREWELL MANOLIS..."

Αυτό το επεισόδιο είναι αφιερωμένο στον πιο σπουδαίο Έλληνα, που έφυγε από κοντά μας. Μανώλης Γλέζος - συνεργαστήκαμε για ένα περίπου χρόνο (2014-2015) και ο χαμός του με συγκλόνισε...Ειδικά μιας και δεν μπορούσα να πάω στην κηδεία του.

«Καλωσήρθατε στα Corona Virus Diaries, με εμένα το Βασίλη Κατσαρδή – σήμερα θα μιλήσω στα ελληνικά μιας και θα μιλήσω για τον πιο σπουδαίο Έλληνα τον οποίο έχω ζήσει, τον πρώτο παρτιζάνο όπως έλεγε ο Charles De Gaulle, τον Μανώλη Γλέζο που δυστυχώς έφυγε από τη ζωή στα 98 του. Για όσους δεν τον γνωρίζετε, μιλάμε για τον άνθρωπο που κατέβασε τη σβάστικα από την Ακρόπολη μαζί με το Λάκη Σάντα, το 1941. Όμως ο Μανώλης δεν ήταν μόνο ένα πράγμα, ήταν πολλά περισσότερα. Αντιστασιακός, μαχητής, δημοσιογράφος, φαρμακοποιός, ποιητής, πολιτικός, διανοούμενος, δάσκαλος. Όταν συνεργαστήκαμε στην Ευρωβουλή, ένιωθα ότι είχα τον παππού όλων μας να με συμβουλεύει, να με καθοδηγεί και να με εμπνέει. Ο Μανώλης μας, ο Αριστερός, ο Πατριώτης ήταν καλύτερος απ’όλους μας, σε όλα του – μακάρι στη ζωή μας να φτάσουμε στο μικρό του δαχτυλάκι. Αντίο Μανώλη...»
