A single very big egg in an amictic female rotifer of the species Brachionus plicatilis is transferred from inside to the outside of the body and remain attached to its mother. After the release of the egg the body of the mother presents a peculiar angular shape at its basal region. This is transient.
Its a rapid process occurring in a second and therefore very difficult to record on video, having in mind that live specimens are only for a while available for observation under microscopy conditions especially in salt water (as it is the case in the present situation).
