The ISTA Summer Fellowship 2025, also known as the ISTernship program, is a fantastic opportunity for students passionate about science and research. Hosted by the prestigious Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), this fully funded internship invites undergraduate and master's students worldwide to collaborate with top scientists on cutting-edge research projects.

Why Join the ISTernship Program?

This internship isn’t just about learning—it’s about becoming part of a vibrant international research community. During the 2-3 month program (between May 15 and September 15, 2025), participants can explore exciting fields like biology, physics, computer science, chemistry, mathematics, neuroscience, and more. You’ll work closely with a leading professor, gaining hands-on experience and sharpening your research skills.

Who Can Apply?

If you’re a bachelor’s or master’s student—or a recent graduate—this program could be your chance to shine. Here’s what you need to know:

You should have completed at least two years of your bachelor’s degree.

The program is open to students from a variety of scientific disciplines.

Unfortunately, applicants enrolled in Russian universities are ineligible due to current policies.

If you’re already pursuing a PhD or have been accepted into ISTA’s PhD program, you won’t be able to apply.

What’s Covered?

ISTA ensures your stay is fully funded so you can focus on what really matters—research! Here’s what you’ll receive:

A monthly stipend of €1,150 to cover your living expenses.

A travel allowance for round-trip flights to Austria.

Help arranging health insurance.

Subsidized housing on campus or in Vienna.

The application process is simple:

Online Application: Fill out the form on ISTA’s portal.

Prepare Your Documents:

CV/Resume: Highlight your skills and experience.

Statement of Purpose: Explain why you’re excited about the program, which professors you’d like to work with, and what you hope to learn.

Transcripts: Include all relevant academic records.

References: Provide contact information for 1-2 referees who can vouch for you.

Make sure to submit everything by February 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM CET.
