During the Queensland June school holidays, young creatives dived into a hands-on workshop that blended the magic of storytelling with the art of puppet making. Guided by an incredible team: filmmaker David Quarrell (Aussie Snake Wranglers), puppet master Warren Duxbury (Agro, Star Wars puppets), comedian Jacob Trelor, and artist Kate Neal (Trade Mutt print designer) participants discovered the power of building connections through shared stories.

From bringing classic fables to life with puppets, to inventing original characters and designing digital backdrops, the kids explored narrative structure, character development, and the roles we play in our communities, all while having a blast!

They:

Dreamed up their own stories and characters
Built and decorated unique puppets
Designed digital backgrounds
Learned performance techniques
Put on a final puppet show to share their creations

This was more than a workshop, it’s where imagination met friendship and every puppet has a story to tell.
