This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV5 GM Cannon on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 100-300 cost support with a decent DPS beam spray gun, pretty good leg breaking ability alongside an instant stagger cannon with both short cooldown and large ammo capacity. It suffers from being ridiculously slow, which makes playing it a real pain, even if you have custom parts to increase its boosting speed. This first game went as well as I could have ever hoped for, everything went right, I was basically free to just shoot all day without much opposition. The second match didn't go that badly either, but it didn't go super well either, I had hoped to deal more damage. It still should show some of the suits weaknesses though, I think the suits poor mobility meant that I struggled to keep up with the team to capitalize on their set-ups. I hope that you enjoy watching!
It can choose between a 100mm machine gun or beam spray gun for its primary weapon. The machine gun on paper has longer effective range and higher DPS, but it has horrible accuracy and often doesn't even hit half its shots at 250m range.
Its primary weapon at LV5 is a beam spray gun with 670 power, 1 second cooldown, 25% heat, 8 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap time, 220m range, 1.3x leg damage modifier and 30% stagger value. This does not instant stagger, but it is a rare consistent source of beam DPS at a cost where suits naturally have lower beam resist. It is not all that impressive though, since even with the advantage of being able to deal good damage against ballistic resist builds, its base DPS at LV5 is even lower than a LV1 Zaku machine gun. It doesn't have bullet spread like a machine gun does though, so it should be a consistent 670 DPS at least.
Its primary melee weapon is the suits bare hands with 1200 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and standard modifiers. This is really impractical to use, it is nearly impossible to combo a stun into a downswing with this kit, the cannon has long recovery time after firing, and the beam spray gun takes too long to stagger with.
Its first sub weapon is a head vulcan gun with 60 power, 30 ammo, 450 RPM, 6 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 450 DPS and 2% stagger value. This has low DPS, short range and cannot stagger on its own. It is only worth using when your beam spray gun is overheating, and even then it might be better to just use your cannon to throw out some stuns.
Its second sub weapon is a shoulder cannon with 1200 power, 12 ammo, 4 seconds cooldown, 18 seconds reload, 2 seconds swap time, 550m range and 70% stagger value. This doesn't deal incredible damage on its own or anything, but it is a really reliable stagger tool with short cooldown time. You can combo this into your beam spray gun to both break MA and deal pretty good damage. Its large ammo count means that you won't run out of ammo in the middle of a fight.
It also has a 3500 HP shield, which helps to alleviate its low base HP.
The LV5 GM Cannon has 12000 HP, 16 ballistic resist, 7 beam resist and 7 melee resist. It has high ballistic resist, which is a nice thing to have when the TB Acguys are running around with high DPS ballistic weapons, but it otherwise is not really durable at all.
In terms of mobility it has 90 walking speed, 135 boosting speed, 50 thrust and 39 turning speed. It has absolutely horrible mobility, it boosts as fast as some suits at 300 cost can walk. You absolutely need mobility boosting custom parts to even reach the bare minimum usable level of boost speed.
In conclusion, I feel that despite its good shelling ability and decent DPS, the GM Cannon is pretty damn weak in the modern GBO2 meta. Its awful mobility means that it really struggles to keep up with the team, and it isn't like it is an artillery tank or sniper that can afford to just hang back and poke from long range. If it can't close in to 220m range to use the beam spray gun, it can only assist its teammates with relatively low damage instant stun cannon shots. You can get it to 150 boosting speed with the right custom parts, but even this feels lacking in the face of the Acguy Recon Type which has 180. I think that it (and the very very similar Zaku Cannon) need a big buff. I think that it should get 14000 HP at LV5, 1500 cannon power at LV5, shorter recovery time after firing the cannon, 150 boosting speed by default and 45 turning speed by default. The LV6 version should get much greater buffs too. It might not be possible since it is a shared weapon, but the beam spray gun should really be buffed too. At LV5 it should have 800 (maybe even a little more) power per shot, 0.8 seconds cooldown time and 35% stagger value, which should make it a much more practical weapon. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!
