It's safe to say Jacqui Brown is experienced; with more than a few years under her Rock & Roll belt. As a vocalist she's a natural - torch, smooth, rough and anything the song calls for as performer. As a writer - she has a prodigious mind.

Jacqui made the choice to debut her record in Montreal for two reasons; firstly, she is following her heart and has taken up residency. Secondly, it was in Montreal - where she spent her late teens - that Jacqui found her voice (as many artists do) in the neighborhood brasseries. It was in one of Montreal's old school rock clubs that she did her first show, and launched her career.

Although primarily working consistently in touring cover bands over the years, and as a studio vocalist; it allowed her to play with some of Canada's most talented and successful musicians: Gaye Delorme, members of the Long John Baldrey and Colin James Band were regular musicians in Jacqui's band. Playing clubs six to seven nights a week; exploring a diversity of genres - Jacqui Brown developed the skills and stamina not to just keep the audience's attention for an hour but for the entire evening.

After pretty much reaching the top of the cover band game and packing clubs such as the Yale and the Commodore in Vancouver; and most of the biggest rooms through out the Western Canada - Jacqui knew this part of the music business did not matter and, in her attempt to attract a record deal as an up and coming; she pulled a 360 and moved to LA.

This is where her experience as a band leader set her on a new path learning a whole new set of skills in Media, TV, film and music production. She also switched gears as an artist - teaching herself guitar and writing her own songs. Her first gig was busking on Venice Beach (she supported herself for a whole summer). Within a year, she was playing the Clubs and had a regular gig at the Cat Club on the Sunset strip. She played the Troubadour, Whisky, and a long time venue known by many progressive jazz musicians - the Baked Potato.

After years of playing with a band Jacqui spent the next 8 as a solo artist.

In early 2010, after returning to Vancouver, Jacqui did a show with Adam Drake (one of the original members of the Odds). Adam is supportive of her songwriting introduced her to John Burton (founding member of Doug & the Slugs). That's where that once in a life time connection was made and just what Jacqui Brown needed to evolve as a writer, vocalist and as a musician.

John truly understood Jacqui and had experience as musician and producer - he just let her be herself and allowed her blend of styles (musically, vocally and life) to come through.

The result of the partnership was the pre-production of 4 albums worth of material in the past 24 months. Jacqui Brown and John Burton are truly magic and the chemistry between them is thick and emotional. During their sold out Vancouver Jazz festival gigs - you could hear the pin drop for two hours.

In July, 2012, Jacqui finally made one of her dreams a reality and went in to Bruce Levin's Green House Studios in Vancouver with John Burton and in ten days recorded her debut record, long over due and right on time.
