Naihati Boro Maa Kali Temple, located in West Bengal, is a significant religious site dedicated to Goddess Kali. The temple’s history dates back about a century when a young man named Bhavesh Chakraborty had a dream after visiting Nabadwip, where he saw the grandeur of the idols there. Inspired by this, he returned to Naihati and built a 22-foot-tall idol of Goddess Kali, which has since become known as Boro Maa. The temple is particularly famous for its opulent idol, which is adorned with 12 kilograms of gold and 200 kilograms of silver every year.

The temple has a unique distinction among Kali temples in West Bengal, as it represents the fierce form of Kali, known as Raksha or Shamshan Kali, symbolizing destruction and renewal. This form of Kali is associated with power and strength, and devotees visit the temple seeking blessings for wealth and prosperity, especially during the Deepabali festival.

The temple’s grandeur and devotion have made it a significant religious site in West Bengal. The idol is immersed in the Ganges River in a unique manner, with all ornaments except the eyes of Lord Shiva being replaced with flowers or ornaments before the immersion.

As the grandeur of Boro Ma's puja unfolds over five days, culminating in a magnificent procession, Naihati becomes a hub for devotees seeking divine blessings. The immersion ceremony is a spectacle, with the goddess adorned in a floral ensemble parading through the town amidst a carnival of lights.
The temple is particularly famous for its opulent idol, which is adorned with 12 kilograms of gold and 200 kilograms of silver every year.
