Romania plans to spend some four billion euros to acquire a new anti-air missile system for it's Air and Land forces. Officials have mentioned the Patriot system, but as of yet no final decision has been made. The European group MBDA says their offering SAMP/T system with the newest Aster 30 missile available and they say it is better than the Patriot offer.

A 360 degree radar, open architecture of the battle command and control unit and an openness to develop industrial cooperation with Romania's national weapon industry - some of the key aspects that MBDA says it has over any potential current-day Patriot deal.
