Описание к видео Akashi Kaikyo Suspension Bridge Pier Construction

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is one of the longest suspensions bridges in the
world. It spans the Akashi Strait between Kobe on the island of Honshu
and Awaji Island in central Japan. The bridge designers faced many
challenges such as the sheer span distance of 12,831 feet (3,911 meters)
and the current in the strait of about 9 knots (4.5m/sec) at the most severe.

The video chronicles the construction of the two main piers of the
suspension bridge.
