Here I pair my Lowland pipe chanter with my Scottish small pipe drones for something different. Both chanter and drones were made by Ray Sloan, and as you can hear the chanter and drones go well together. This is fairly unique among pipes of this sort at the time of writing. If you want to play in a session or a band, and you want to be heard, but don't want to blow everyone away with a loud Border pipe chanter, here's the solution. Ray's SSP are louder than most, and his Lowland pipes are quieter than most. I made this tune for Kat Eggleston, my lovely wife and remarkable singer, songwriter, guitarist, and playwright. The motto of clan Chattan is "touch not the cat bot a glove," meaning if you're going to touch the cat you had better wear a glove. Some pipers, even some I admire, do not approve of Highland tunes played on Lowland pipes or Scottish small pipes. Highland pipers, loosely defined, don't approve of Lowland tunes in general, and Lowland pipers (loosely defined) don't care much for Highland tunes, and if you are also interested in Northumbrian tunes you asking for it from all sides.
