I began to revive this art in 2013 after I realized that there was no lilac essential oil or lilac absolute being made in the world at the time. My first pomades were made in 2013 and 2014. Jasmine and Lilac. After some experimentation I was able to crack the code on making lilac absolute in 2016-2017. In 2024, I make pomades and extract the oils from a myriad of flowers that typically cannot be distilled, including Lilac, Jasmine, Peony, Mock Orange, Gardenia, Violets, Hyacinth, Weeds and invasive species, among others. I teach workshops and give tours and demonstrations every year to many dozens of people. It’s a long and intense process, but the end result is well worth the effort. I believe everyone who desires it, can learn to make their own naturally scented skincare and perfumery products at home with a small garden or natural backyard meadow nearby. Through my teaching efforts I give birth to the idea that enfleurage may become a common household craft, such as canning, baking, gardening, sewing, writing poetry, embroidery, soap making, and playing the flute.
