SoF2, by Raven Software, marked the return of John Mullins, this time under the IdTech3 Quake III Engine with several enhacements, like the "Ghoul" engine for gruesome and accurate damage and dismemberment. SoF2 was a departure of the bombastic, B-Series action movie vibes of the first game, into a more tactical, realistic approach. High recoil weapons, infiltration missions, and much more slow gameplay. While this made the game unpopular among the purists of the first game, SoF2 kept a faithful following that kept the online multiplayer alive for lots of years to come. As interesting trivia, the game has a random mission generator, which will generate random maps for us to play, they're not great, but it's something.

SoF2, por Raven Software, marcó el regreso de John Mullins, esta vez usando el motor IdTech3 del Quake III con varias mejoras, como el motor "Ghoul" que muestra daños detallados y desmembramientos. SoF2 fue la despedida de la acción desenfrenada de película de acción de serie B de la primera parte, para mostrar un juego más táctico y realista. Armas con alto retroceso, misiones de infiltración y gameplay mucho más lento espantaron a los puristas del primer juego. Pero SoF2 fue capaz de captar a otro público, que mantuvo el multijugador vivo durante muchos años.
