Описание к видео What is World Cleanup Day?

WORLD CLEANUP DAY
Today is World CleanUp Day, which means people all around the world are heading outside to clean up. That included 12 year old Joseph from Bali. He's a young environmentalist who spends a lot of his free time walking through the mangroves and beaches of Bali, picking up rubbish. He says that during the rainy season there is a lot of rubbish on the beaches and in the water. Today, Joseph is hoping that he'll be joined by millions of people of all ages, all around the world, who will be cleaning up their local areas for World Cleanup Day. World Cleanup Day actually started in Estonia back in 2008, with 50,000 participants. Now millions of people get involved across the globe and last year 219,000 tonnes of waste were removed from our ecosystems. This year for the first time, the UN has added World CleanUp Day to its calendar of significant days. That's really important, because waste is a huge problem for the whole world. Joseph says you can help like reducing the plastic you buy and picking up rubbish and throwing it in the bin.

TOMATO VIRUS
Thousands of tonnes of tomatoes have been destroyed in South Australia to try and stop the spread of a fruit virus. The first case of 'tomato brown rugoes' fruit virus in Australia was confirmed in Adelaide back in August. Now SA farmers have had to destroy tomato and capsicum crops to stop the virus from spreading around the state and around the country. The fruit virus doesn't make humans sick, but it does cause tomatoes to form spots and ripen unevenly which can affect how well crops grow.

DIAMONDS WIN
The Diamonds had a big win against England in Adelaide last night. The Aussies led for the entire match with the Roses getting within five goals in the last quarter. But, the Diamonds ran away with it finishing the match 70 to 57. This was the first test of the three match series, the teams will meet for the second game on Sunday in Sydney.

SCHOOL BUS
If you catch the bus to school, how long is the ride? Well everyday kids in travel on the longest school bus run in Queensland. In total the school commute takes around 90 minutes, depending on traffic. The school bus travels from Bidunggu to Burketown and back which adds up 240 kilometres a day. But with tablets full of activities, I don't think these students mind the trek. Thanks to teachers and parents volunteering to drive the wheels on the bus have been turning for nearly 4 years.

KYLIE MINOGUE
Aussie Pop Princess Kylie Minogue has announced she is going on tour. The Tension Tour kicks off next year and will be her biggest global trek since 2011. Oh and if one announcement wasn't enough, Ms Minogue has also announced a follow up to her album Tension aptly titled Tension II.

HIPPO PATENT
Now, you might remember a bouncy baby hippo we showed you earlier in the week. Moo Deng, who lives in a zoo in Thailand, has become a social media star drawing in large crowds. So much so that zookeepers have announced they want to patent Moo Deng's image. This would mean only Moo Deng's home zoo could sell products with her on them.

ROBOTIC WEED KILLING DOG
If you are looking for an alternative to chemical weed killers then this announcement is for you. Introducing a Robotic dog that blasts weeds with fire. Yep, developers in the US say this is a more environmentally friendly way to kill invasive plants without the use of harmful pesticides.
