How to Use GEDmatch DNA Segment Tools in a Research Project

Diana Elder discusses how to use the GEDMatch DNA segment tools, specifically the Tier 1 segment search and triangulation tools, to find matching chromosome segments and triangulated segments among DNA matches. She walks through a case study researching who was the father of Clemsey Cline Weatherford, using the tools to identify a triangulated segment on chromosome 22 among herself, her fourth cousin once removed Jane, and her first cousin once removed Mary that points to Clemsey's hypothesized father John C. Cline. She then shows how to map these segment matches to ancestors using the third-party tool DNA Painter to build evidence for her hypothesis.
