In this TED Talk, Sybille Raphael, the legal director of Protect, reveals the harrowing story of 900 postmen wrongly accused of theft due to a faulty online system. These individuals lost their jobs and reputations, and some even went to prison, with the truth taking two decades to surface. Through this powerful narrative, Raphael highlights the challenges faced by non-experts in defending themselves against technical errors and underscores the vital role of whistleblowers in seeking justice. With master’s degrees from Sciences Po Paris, Pantheon Assas Paris II and King's College London, Sybille practiced both in Paris and London as avocat and solicitor. She is an award-winning employment lawyer, currently working alongside employers, regulators and whistleblowers as Protect’s Legal Director. She is also a law Lecturer of the Université Paris-Dauphine (London Campus). She co-founded a drop-in clinic for French speakers providing free advice on English law in French.
