There are lots of ways of treating headaches and migraines. My goal is always to treat headaches without using prescription medications.

We will use our opportunity to chat to look into ways of addressing headaches by evaluating how we can do that. So, we'll look at things like are children sleeping enough, are they getting to bed on time, are they oversleeping on weekends, for example, triggering headaches, are they skipping meals? Skipping breakfast is common among teenagers. Sometimes elementary school kids will skip lunch because they don't like the school lunch. Sometimes really active kids will miss a snack after school and that can provoke a headache. We'll also look at things like water intake. Often, kids are not drinking sufficient water during the school day, and so they'll have an afternoon headache provoked by insufficient water intake.

We'll try to assess all of those factors and try to intervene in ways that allow us to treat their headaches without the use of prescription medications, if at all possible.
