Tearful David Beckham has joined thousands of mourners in paying his respects to the Queen.

The former England captain, 47, was seen looking emotional as he paused at Elizabeth II's coffin this afternoon.

Beckham, wearing a black tie and suit, paused with his head bowed after a 13-hour wait.

The star queued patiently with thousands of ordinary people, wearing a dark flat cap.

Beckham joined the line in the early hours of the morning, later saying: "I thought by coming at 2am it was going to be a little bit quieter - I was wrong."

Speaking from the queue, he called himself a "huge royalist and fan of the Royal Family".
