Patience has rewarded me with this late version of the Studio Zephyr from Electra SLM. Early examples would have the single cutaway LP shaped body and openbook headstock, the last version like mine has a one and a half cutaway body, the wave headstock with peacesign logo in addition to the MMK45 pickups!

I was able to meet with Tom Presley last summer who confirmed that the six way switch had three wiring modes, with every other position being single coil or humbucker. Those six positions are:

Series Humbucker
Series Single Coil
Parallel Humbucker
Parallel Single Coil
Phase Reverse Humbucker
Phase Reverse Single Coil

A truly staggering number of combinations for the mid 70's when it was first introduced. Don't feel obligated to use all the different settings, I tend to use it pretty stripped down as either single or humbucker and just use the three way to select the pickup, but you can see how versatile and worthy it is of the 'Studio' name it was given.

I have the original Black Pickguard, but I prefer playing without it. This example is pretty beat up and I believe has yellowed a bit, some of them out there are lighter colored. Keep your eyes out, and if you have the chance to play one of these lightweight guitars, you too may be rewarded for your patience.
