Built in the untamed landscape of the American West, they were the vision of early park enthusiasts, architects and entrepreneurs. The lodges of the national parks reflect the surrounding wilderness while providing shelter from it. GREAT LODGES OF THE NATIONAL PARKS explores the grand lodges, showcasing a pivotal era of American craft and design as well as the boom of railroad travel and tourism.

Canyon Lodges features great lodges located in some of the most dramatic landscapes in the U.S. El Tovar, at the South Rim, is in Grand Canyon National Park. El Tovar’s architecture captures the social transition of the era—part Victorian resort and part rustic log cabin. This program highlights the famous “Loop Tour,” the Union Pacific Railroad’s imaginatively promoted rail and touring car adventure. It features Zion Lodge in Utah’s Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon Lodge in Bryce Canyon National Park and Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
