Moji and Shimonosaki. The Inland Sea. Arrival by boat. Local Japanese fishing boats. Kobe : The Motomachi and General scenes. Street scenes, sailor, newspaper seller, horse drawn carts. Umbrellas as sun shades. Trams. Women in traditional Japanese costumes, kimonos. Geishas get into a car? Temple. Street scenes. The garden of the Tor Hotel. Western white woman wanders around in summer dress with a Japanese umbrella. Man poses in suit for the camera. Formal garden at Koroen Beach. Famil get out of a car. Men in dashing bathing costumes, a one piece covering top and bottom. Crowded beach scenes. Japanese and Westerners pose for the camera. Two Japanese women sit with an infant, which smiles before bursting into tears. Boats at the seaside. Kids play in the shallows. People resting by beach huts. Fishermen drag in a big fishing net, pulling it up the beach. They turn a wooden wheel to winch in the net before pulling a rope arm over arm. A man in the water beats the surface with a long pole. Leaving Kobe by train. View from the rear of the train, Observation car. Man looks at books on a shelf in the train, library car? Kyoto. The Gion Matsuri, festival with parade through the streets and procession of floats. Views of the crowds watching the carnival, fanning themselves in the summer heat and sheltering under umbrellas as they walk along the street. Kimono wearing women get into a car.
