3 Ways To Fish Teasers: How To Rig Up - Twisted Dropper Loop - Palomar Knot - Combo Swivel

Captain Greg Cudnik from Fishermans Headquarters demonstrates three ways to rig up for fishing teasers. Here's some tips on rigging options that work great for striped bass and flounder. These will also work for many other species.

00:15 - How To Tie The Twisted Dropper Loop - I primarily choose this method of tying when rigging up to fish a teaser for fluke or striped bass. The dropper loop's rigidity from the twisted style keeps the teaser standing off even when casting and jigging. It rarely if ever fouls up. With regards to the rig I choose 25-30# for fluke and 30-40# for striped bass. I change the teasers style as per the target species. I use a bare hook (Mustad 3400BN Sizes 4/0-7/0) with Gulp for fluke and a deceiver style fly sizes 2/0-4/0 (bucktail with hackle) for striped bass.

04:31 - Palmor Knot Style Teaser Rig - By far the way to go when the utmost strength is needed. If targeting big fish or medium game on light tackle I choose the Palmor Knot style. The Palmor is one of the strongest knots, it's easy to tie and the knot leaves two parallel lines once tied. It's a perfect opportunity to leave one long for the main lure and one short for a teaser. The classic dropper loop is a well known knot for adding a three way junction in a straight shot of line BUT it is also a knot that is no where near 100% breaking strength wise. I'll go out on a limb and say when a dropper loop is tied 20% (possibly more) of the line's strength is lost. This is ok for most fishing applications however must be a consideration. For these other situations choose the Palmor!

06:10 - Spro Combo Swivel - Easy and effective but the added "jewelry" makes this option MY least favorite. I leave these for making rigs when fishing deeper water, hi-lo or triple threat rigs.
