In this video, We Covered the Heritage Village Palampur is a hill station that has got its fame for being extremely beautiful and brimming with nature’s beauty and breath-taking sites. In administrative terms, it is a municipal council in the Kangra Valley in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The region is surrounded by tea gardens, pine forests and is set in the foothills of the majestic mountains of the Dhauladhar range. Apart from these facts, Palampur has the title of the tea capital of north India. The importance of Tea Gardens of Palampur can be visualized as Palampur being the Crown and the tea gardens are it’s Kohinoor. Dr. Jameson is the man to be credited for the introduction of discovery of these Tea Gardens to Palampur back in the 19th century that are now the main attraction of the City. The varieties of the Tea in Palampur is extensively great and visitors can purchase it from the local market. In India, every name has a meaning and so does Palampur, the name is made of the local word "PALUM" that simply means lots of water. It signifies itself as the city have numerous streams flowing from the mountains to the plains. The combination of nature’s freshness and various water streams gives Palampur a distinctive look and feel. Not to forget a large piece of the land is covered in the luscious green Tea Estates. As if all of this was not enough, Palampur has a benefit of its location as it is located at the convergence of the plains and the hills that adds great level of contrast along with these places the marvellous McLoedganj is in its vicinity. The plains on one side and the majestic snow-covered hills on the other along with the Dhauladhar mountain range. And, in the backdrop of this beautiful town stands the Dhauladhar mountain range, which that usually remains snow-covered for most parts of the year.

Khaniyara Cottage
It is a single bedroom stone cottage. Walls are of “SALOT” stone from “Khaniyara” Village. No cement is used for construction. It is a single bedroom with “FIRE PLACE” , Changing room and “VERANDA” in front. Wooden flooring and roofs grace the Khaniyara Cottage.

Barot Cottage
Barot is single bed room wooden cottage. Walls and flooring are of local wooden pine. It has a single bedroom with “fire place”, changing room, bathroom, open “Angan” on front and “Veranda” at rear.

Kangra cottage
Kangra cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage with sitting room. Walls are of local cut stone”MOHRU” till ground floor(without cement). Ist floor walls are of handmade sun dried bricks. Roofing is of local bamboos and slates. There are two bedrooms in ground flooreach on left and right hand with a sitting room in the centre from where wooden stairs goes to Ist floor 3rd bedroom with “chulha”, changing room and bathroom. Open “ANGAN” in front and lawn area at rear.

Una Cottage
It is a double storey two bed room mud house. Walls are of hand made sun dried mud bricks with mud plaster, roofing is of local bamboos and slates. One bedroom in ground floor with changing room, bathroom and veranda at rear. Stairs from outside goes to second room in 1st floor with changing room, bathroom and “varanda” at rear.
