Last year The Gluten Free Bar became a B Corporation, which we think is pretty cool.

B Corporations are companies that commit to a triple bottom line, which means we take care of People, the Planet and then Profits.

It's easy for a company to say it cares about these things, but to be legally designated as a B Corporation, or Benefit Corporation, means you invite a third party to oversee your operation and make sure that you're living up to your promises.

We've committed to paying our employees a living wage. Without them nothing would be possible, and investing in them makes sense from every perspective.

We've committed to becoming a zero-waste facility. We're not there yet but we are working on it -- with a robust recycling program, paperless record keeping, timers on water heaters, energy-efficient light bulbs and other concrete steps to reduce our carbon footprint. We've only got one planet so we're doing what we can to help care for it.

We're also expanding our community giving and local sourcing whenever possible.

Becoming a B Corporation is a committment, and it's one we've taken on enthusiastically. It's now part of who we are. We think it matters and we hope you do, too.
