Thermal Properties of Matter - Formula List and Important Points

In this video, we will revise the topic Thermal Properties of Matter
I will start with calorimetry where we will revise how to calculate heat gained or lost. Then, we will brush up on latent heat of fusion and vaporization and also find the triple point of water. This will be followed by a discussion on thermal expansion covering linear, areal and volume expansion of matter. We will also discuss some special cases such as time variation in pendulum clocks due to temperature change, bimetallic strip, expansion of rings, and change in density due to temperature.
We will then move on to transfer of heat through conduction and radiation. In this conduction of heat through a system of rods, concentric circles and concentric cylinders will be discussed. Later, we will touch upon Newton’s Law of Cooling, Stefan’s Law and Wein’s Law
In the end, I will tell you about some important questions and numericals that you need to revise before your examination.
